Howdy Folks! Welcome to Golden

Okay so despite my social media absence, we didn't actually fall off the face of the Earth. Since we last spoke, Eric has been hired at an awesome company in Boulder. I am so proud of him! He is a self taught man, who has, in less than a year, completely changed his career. He is doing what he loves now and is much happier for it! Yay for having an awesome husband!

I love this picture of Eric 'coding by lantern light'
It was taken while we were at the Justus Apple Orchard...
Check out that adventure here!
We have also been getting settled into our new home town of Golden Colorado. I was of course delighted to learn this is Where the West lives.

When we decided to stay in Colorado we were half way expecting to be moving around between state parks every 14 days (thats their rule... you can only stay for a maximum of 14 days in a 45 day period). This idea was less than appealing, especially once we found jobs in the area. We talked about getting an apartment, but honestly I just really love Petunia. We don't want to sell her, and we don't want the adventures to end while we are getting our new careers started.  So off I went on a research binge to find a "nice trailer park". Now I know what you're thinking... you're wondering if such a thing exists. I wasn't sure either but then I remembered the RV park we found in San Francisco overlooking the Pacific Ocean. I thought, surely something like that has to exist here in Colorado!

Man oh man was I right. The Golden Clear Creek RV park is in the most lovely town, situated right on the Clear Creek River (where the Gold Rush began). This park is absolutely perfect! Its also absolutely so difficult to get a spot here. In the spring, just like the state parks, there is a 14 day max. However in the fall/winter they have monthly spots available, and you are able to stay from October 1st-May 1st.

Golden Clear Creek RV Park

When I say it was difficult to get in here I mean it! They do not take reservations at all. You just have to call in the morning to see if they have any openings that day. They rarely do. It's even more competitive for the monthly spots. We had to call at EXACTLY 8am (literally to the second) every morning to try to get one of these coveted winter spots. October 1st they had over 100 calls and only 9 spots. Eric and I were both calling and so were Cydney and Garret and it still took us days to get in.

We did finally get in and we are so happy we did! The park is owned by the City of Golden, and everyone here is incredibly nice! The city employees are seriously delightful! Our neighbors are great too, they have all been really helpful with how to prepare the Airstream for the Winter.

I love love love this view!

It's so lovely to open the windows and hear the river!
The town itself is probably the biggest draw. It is set in the foothills of Colorado, 20 minutes from Denver and 30 from Boulder. The Clear Creek River runs though the middle of town and there are over 20 miles of walking/running/biking paths. We are parked right on the river and can walk anywhere in town via the sidewalks that follow the river. One of my favorite things about this park is that it is literally across the street from the Golden Community Center and Gym. It has been incredible having such a nice gym within walking distance. We've only been here for the last month but I'm already seeing gains! Yay for building a big booty!

A few weeks ago fall was in full swing as we walked around town!

When we aren't working or at the gym, there are 4 local breweries within walking distance so thats pretty awesome!

Oh lord, Eric can't take me anywhere.
Also Golden happens to be the home to the Coors brewery. We can smell beer being brewed pretty much all day! This place is basically heaven for Eric and me!

Winston is super happy too! He walked 3.2 miles in one stretch, which I think is a record for him. We can take him just about everywhere with us and he gets A LOT of attention when he's out, so he's always happy!

Winston insists on sitting at the table with us...
He doesn't really like the ground.

He likes the walks and meeting new people but Winston hates the river... He had a little slip on a rock by the water and it scared him a bit (he's fine, he didn't even get wet!)

lol at my face.
Well, thats the news from our latest adventures. Things are going great right now, but "Winter is coming" so we will see how that goes. Next week it's supposed to get down in the teens over night... As a Floridian I can't even comprehend that just yet, so I'll keep you posted on how that goes.
